King Haakon rejects German demands
On 10 April 1940 Haakon VII refused to appoint Quisling prime minister and threatened to abdicate. The government backed him unanimously and Norway fought on.

Norway capitulates
On 10 June 1940 the Norwegian forces at home capitulated in Trondheim. Three days earlier the King and government sailed from Tromsø to wage war from London.

Terboven takes power in Norway
On 25 September 1940 Reich Commissioner Terboven declared the King and government deposed, dissolved the Administrative Council and banned all parties but NS.
